Everyone! You have no idea how hard it is for me to keep a secret, especially one as exciting as this!
Drum roll please...............
I would proudly like to share with you all, a collaboration with the writer Katie Cross and with the association with The Health and Happiness Society, the release of the cookbook "the Health and Happiness Cookbook".
This is a cookbook that has recipes inspired by the characters in the Award winning Chick Lit series from the Health and Happiness Society. From strong characters like Lexie Greene, she is the lead character in the book "Bon Bon's to Yoga Pants". She has always had a pretty face but has always struggled being over weight, she finally decides to change her life by taking control of her health. On her journey she discovers who she is and finds a confidence that was buried deep down inside.
During Lexie's story we meet Megan at the gym, she becomes one of Lexie's best friends and biggest supports. Megan's story carries on in her own book entitled "I am Girl Power". Megan has had her challenges with relationships and has found herself escaping to the mountains to help her twin brothers at a summer camp. She finds it is not as relaxing as she thought, as she becomes the camp cook and often has to fight a battle with a old pesky oven and little critters that help themselves to the food in the kitchen. Megan discovers some inner struggles and fears that she has to face as she is in the wilderness.
There are a few other characters from the series that have their own stories that have been released on Wattpad, the other stories include Rachelle's "You'll Never Know" and her struggles in life. Then there is Bisty, the one who encourages all these lovely strong women to become healthier and stronger in their lives, her story "I am Woman" tells about her struggles with balancing being a single mother and the emotions of seeing your ex moving on.
These women inspired me, they are so relatable, they go through struggles that we have either gone through in our life or have known someone who has faced them. When Katie approached me to collaborate with her on this project I knew right away what I wanted to say... that was heck yes!
So for the past almost 8 months we have been working on this wonderful and beautiful cookbook, these recipes all play a part in who the characters are. Lexie has a sweet tooth (don't we all) so we have a whole section on some delectable desserts for you to drool over and then to make at home. It might be a bit dangerous that you know how to make some of these things! Lexie also works at an Irish pub, so on entire section is all pub style food, great appetizers for you to make for a night in or any social gathering.
Megan's section is more on the healthier side, with some bright fresh and bold flavors that will leave your taste buds singing. Rachelle works in a bakery so her section focuses on things that she would be making in a baking job, it is always nice to be able to make such amazing treats at home, and to know that it is easier then you think to have bakery quality treats in your home.
Last but not least is Bitsy's section, Bitsy is an amazing Mom and I wanted to focus more on comfort foods that make you think of home. They are hearty recipes that are great to feed a crowd and are kid approved.
Over the next two weeks I, along with Katie will be doing a series of posts sharing our adventures during this process. So stay tuned because we will also be sharing some recipes for the cookbook to get you all excited for the release date!
I would love to see pictures and comments for the recipes if you try them out! This is a dream come true and a major bucket list item that is being checked off, I can't wait to share more with you all and to take you on this journey of Health and Happiness.
Much love, happy cooking and baking!
