Over the last 6 months my husband and I have been planning an adventure that I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl. We kept this adventure a secret from our kids, until this weekend. This adventure I am talking about, is going to the happiest place on earth... Disneyland!! I can't believe that we are going in just a few days. We debated doing this trip with the kids until they were older, my husband even said nope not till they were 6 and 8. Then back in April he came home from work and surprised me by saying lets go. I think you had to pick my mouth off the floor because I couldn't believe this was actually happening. We decided not to tell our kids until right before we left and for their Dad's birthday. For me I wanted to wait even longer and tell them once we got there. My husband wanted to build up the anticipation for them for a few days. So while we waited to tell them, we planned, and we put together a little package for them full of items that would be special to announce the trip. If you are planning on surprising your kids, or a loved one, with a trip to Disneyland here is what we included in our surprise bag for them. Disneyland Surprise Package:
For me the hardest part has been keeping it a secret, it has been so exciting planning everything and organizing the trip. What is also so fun is my in laws are coming as well, there was no way they were being left behind. I married into a family that LOVES Disneyland. We had to be careful what we discussed around the kids because my daughter is really good at listening in on the conversations. But we managed to surprise them. I explained in my last post that it was my husbands birthday, then our anniversary and then my birthday is next week. We celebrate all week long during this time of year, throw in Canadian Thanksgiving in there and we are spoiled rotten. This year though we wanted to do something different, instead of gifts we wanted to buy memories and experiences. I am so glad we chose to do this this year, it will be a memorable trip that will add to our adventures and memories as a family. When we sat down the kids we brought out the gift bags and explained to them that instead of gifts we decided to do something as a family. When the kids opened up the bags they were so excited, our daughter caught on right away, and our son I think was more excited about the book at first. Then when we explained what was happening he was so excited. I strongly suggest getting it on film and having someone take pictures to capture the moment. We are so excited to go, and one of the best parts of this trip is that we are going to be driving the whole way to California. If you have looked back on my posts you would know we love road trips, one of our longest and favorites was to Churchill Manitoba. Some people think we are crazy because we don't have tablets and DVD players for the kids in the car, just old fashioned books, activities, colouring and games. It is a blast! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Do you have any vacations planned in the next little while? Happy Monday!
