Why hello everyone! No I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I just have been busy with life! I have not forgotten you though, I have been planning some awesome new posts and have been putting some majour thought into what will be up and coming.

Over the next 5 posts I will be dedicating the blog to Burgers! Yup that's what you read, burgers! I am craving and hoping for warmer days hence why I have decided if I can't barbecue then I can pretend I am by making amazing, juicy, massive gourmet burgers inside.

I am a big fan of burgers, to me there is nothing better then sinking your teeth into a juicy burger. I am all for a classic cheeseburger with minimal toppings, but I also love having unique and gourmet toppings as well. One of my favourite chain restaurants to go to is Red Robins, they have so many different burgers to choose from that it can be super fun to go over and over again. That gets expensive, eating out multiple times in a month. So what I wanted was to show you all that you can make some amazing burgers at home for a fraction of the cost. I made these burgers for two people for roughly 15$, for 2! You can only get one burger for that in a restaurant and they aren't always as big and juicy as you can make at home.

The key to a good juicy burger is to get quality meat, and to make sure the fat content is higher and to not use lean ground meats, especially if it is for a beef burger. You want higher fat because that is where the juice and flavour is. I also highly recommend either going to a local butcher or going to a community market that sells  locally raised and slaughtered meat. I recommend this because it is always better to support and buy local. I bought these pork and beef patties from a local store in Cochrane named Able Meats. Everything in their store is Alberta raised meats, their quality is beyond amazing and I am so happy to support such high standards.

Bacon Jalapeno Guacamole Burgers

Ingredients:

2 - 50% ground beef and 50% ground pork patties
1/2 cup of Tex Mex shredded cheese
1/2 cup of guacamole
1/4 cup of sliced pickled jalapenos
4 slices of thick cut bacon
4 tomato slices
2 gourmet hamburger buns
1 tablespoon of mayo
red onion

Directions:

Heat up a cast iron pan or a thick frying pan to a medium heat. Cook the patties until they are cooked through and have a nice sear and crust on the outside. Add the cheese to the tops and place a pot lid on top to help melt the cheese for 1 minute, or until melted.

Cut buns in half width wise, add mayo to the top half, add the guacamole to the bottom half. Add slices of red onion on top of the guacamole, then the tomatoes. Top with the hamburger patty, then add the bacon and jalapenos.

Now enjoy!

The best part of making burgers at home is that you won't get a floppy sad looking thin patty. This burger was a knock out and a home run! Or in reference to the Olympics a Gold medal performance.

How many of you have been enjoying the Olympics? I absolutely love them and the figure skating. I am so proud and happy the Scott and Tess won gold and they ended their career on a high note and the fairy tale ending they wanted.

Happy Eating!
