I have been a bit quiet on the blog this week. I am planning and working out some really great content for the next few months. I love planning and trying to execute new ideas and things that I love to eat with my family. I am also going to try and do a few things non food related in a new blog feed I will be adding shortly. Lots of plans that I am excited to start sharing with you all in the upcoming months.

Just in time for the weekend and for Pizza nights, because most of us have pizza on the weekend. I decided it was time to experiment and try something a bit different with my pizza making. I kept seeing this pizza video on all social media websites of a pizza that had a crazy amount of cheese in between two layers of crust and the toppings. I wanted to try and recreate that, it didn't turn out completely like the videos and ended up more like a giant stuffed crust pizza... which lets face it still tastes pretty amazing!

I ended up using my giant 14 inch cake pan that I bought last year to make a wedding cake. I haven't used it since so making a giant thick pizza seemed like a logical thing to do with it. If you don't have a 14 inch giant cake pan then you could use 2 - 8 inch round cake pans.

Deep Dish Meat Lovers Pizza

Ingredients:

Pizza crust from BBQ Chicken Pizza
1 - 200 grams packages of turkey pepperoni
4 ounces of thinly sliced Prosciutto
4 ounces of thinly sliced Genoa Salami
1 - 625 grams bag of shredded pizza mozzarella
1/2 cup of pizza sauce
Olive oil

Directions:

Follow the instructions on how to make the pizza dough. Once the dough is made preheat oven to 450F and cut 3/4 of the dough out.

Generously grease a 14 inch cake pan with olive oil and cut out a circle of parchment paper to place in the bottom, this helps with the removal of the pizza.

On a lightly floured counter top, roll out the 3/4 of the dough into a 1/2 inch thick circle that is bigger then the 14 inch cake pan. You want to roll it out almost like you do pie dough so that it will stretch over the whole pan. Place the dough into the pan.

Sprinkle 1/2 of the shredded pizza mozzarella on top of the dough. Roll out the 1/4 of left over dough to a 1/4 inch thick, place on top of the cheese. Using 1/4 of the rest of the cheese sprinkle along the edges of the dough, then fold over the excess dough and pinch into the dough sitting on top of the cheese. Brush the crust with olive oil and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

Remove the crust from the oven and spread the sauce, then the meat and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top of the meat and along the crust. Bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and brown in spots.

Remove from the oven and allow to sit for 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Using a spatula, gently run it along the edge of the pan to make sure the pizza will come away clean, tilt the pan and using the spatula remove the pizza from the pan by sliding onto a cutting board.

Let sit for 5 more minutes and then cut into 12 equal slices. Grab lots of napkins and expect a gooey greasy mess!

Deep Dish Meat Lovers Pizza

Who else loves pizza?? To me pizza screams the weekend. I love making it on Friday night and then having the leftovers for the whole weekend to snack on. Do you have a favorite flavour combination for pizza? I love most pizzas, but the one I don't like is Hawaiian pizza. If it isn't a dessert pizza with chocolate on it then I feel fruit has no place on a pizza!

Happy Weekend Everyone!
