Dear Friends and Family, I am asking for some help. The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir that the government is wanting to build on our homes, we have been deceived time and time again and we were not consulted in the first place for this project. We found out from a news report about this monstrosity of a project that was going to be built on our homes. The provincial government of Alberta keeps saying that they are working closely with the residents but they have not been. Meetings have been filled with "I don't know the answer" and "We will get back to you on that" to shrugs of the shoulders and very uniformed representatives for the provincial government. The project has ballooned to over 6,800 acres in size which is not the original 2,800 acres it was going to be. Along with the actual projected costs would be close to 1 Billion dollars, a far bigger number than the original 250 million that was announced last year. I am not trying to be a "not in my back yard" person but there is another option that is cheaper, will protect more people, and is already on government land. The Dam at McLean Creek project is the smarter one. People this is your taxes and money going to a hasty uneducated project that makes no sense. We have all the same environmental impacts that they are concerned with at the other projects. Don't let the government fool you into the Springbank reservoir. Please stand up for our community, our heritage, our environment, our families. We are small in numbers but can be loud if we have more to stand with us. Please sign the attached letter and send it in to the government and fight for what's right. It is a document to send to the federal government to have them review the project. It doesn't matter where in Canada or where in the world you live anyone can sign this and send it in. Say no to being lied to and let's protect more communities by getting the government to change course. Hopefully this link helps it's a PDF, just print, sign and send it in to the address in the top corner of the letter. Thank you! ![]()
