Have you ever just wanted something whimsical and fun to eat? I know at times with little ones, I want to make things a bit more fun. I was thinking of making some Rice Krispies treats, but my kids actually don't really like them... I know weird right! We are at my parents visiting and one treat that my kids always have when they are here is Fruit loops.

So I got an idea and decided to make a Unicorn themed whimsical treat. My daughter is obsessed with unicorns right now and she was so excited to see these, and to eat them. These are easy to whip up, they seriously taste like birthday cake, and they are different from the traditional rice Krispies version. This would be a great treat to get the kids involved, they would probably love to help sprinkle on the sprinkles and chocolate.

Unicorn Marshmallow Treats

Ingredients:

9 cups of Fruit Loop cereal, or the knock off version
60 large marshmallows
4 1/2 tablespoons of butter
1 cup of white chocolate chips
pink decorating sugar
star shaped sprinkles

Directions:

In a 9 by 13 inch glass pan, either grease and line with wax paper or spray with non stick spray. Set aside.

In a large pot melt butter, once butter is melted add marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.

Add the fruit loops to the marshmallows and stir until evenly coated. Press the ingredients into the prepared greased pan. Place in the fridge for 5 minutes to let set.

In a small bowl melt the white chocolate chips at 30 second increments, until just melted. Grab the pan of the treats and drizzle the chocolate over the tops. Sprinkle on the pink sugar and star sprinkles.

Place back in the fridge for 15 minutes to allow everything to set. When you want to serve them cut them into squares and try not to eat the whole pan! Store the uneaten ones in a air tight container or a Ziploc bag.

Aren't these so fun! They made me think of unicorns, which is why I named them what I did. They are just so bright and happy. These would be a perfect treat to send in your children's lunch kits for a fun snack at school.

I know we still have most of August for the summer vacation, but have any of you started thinking about back to school lunches? What is a favorite snack or lunch that you like to pack for your kidlets in your life?

Happy Friday!

That is what I finding so fun about being a Mom, is that I can do things for my kids that I think they will be in 20 years like "remember that time mom did that"

How awesome are these?! Two thumbs up for you, mama. :) I have many childhood memories that surround treats my mom made for us and they are some of my favourites. Just like music, food can bring you back so vividly to a certain time or place. You are creating those memories now for your kids! They will remember these Unicorn Treats for sure. So creative and fun. :)

Your kids and I share a love of fruit loops so I bet these wouldn't last long enough to even take a picture at my house. Yum!!

Hahaha, oh believe me I love them too! They are one of those sugar cereals that we never have but when we do the box doesn't last long!

I'm sure any child would ditch rice crispy squares for this colourful treat.
