If there is one sweet treat that makes my heart flip, it has got to be chocolate and pretzels. The combination of sweet and salty with the crunch is just irresistible to me. A long time ago in Canada we had Flips, the chocolate covered pretzels, and then they disappeared. I was so so so so sad and quite honestly mad. We have some chocolate covered pretzels, but they aren't the same. I have seen them in stores every once in awhile but not consistently, so therefore I have to make do with making some awesome treats.
These are so simple, easy to get the kids involved, and easy to package up and send off to friends for a sweet Valentines treat. All you need is three ingredients, a large baking sheet and 5 minutes.
Valentine's Day Pretzel Kisses
100 Hershey Kisses
100 square shaped salted pretzels
100 pink/red smarties (or if you live in the USA M&M's)
Preheat oven to 200F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Remove the wrappers from the Hershey kisses. Line the square pretzels on the baking sheet and them place the Hershey kisses on top in the center. Place in the oven and bake from 3 to 5 minutes, or until the chocolate becomes shiny and has softened. You don't want it to melt through the pretzels, you just want it to soften up.
Remove the pan from the oven and add the Smarties (or M&M's) on the top of the Hershey kisses. Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan and packaging up. Or you can eat a few when they are still warm and blame it on the kids.
As you can see these are pretty cute and tasty little bites. If you are looking for a cute treat to make for your kids Valentine's school party, or for your own eating pleasure then this is the perfect easy treat.
I got all my ingredients from Bulk Barn but you can usually find these ingredients in any local store closest to you. Do you have a favourite Valentine's Day treat? We love to make sugar cookies and decorate them.
